Four Things To Remember When Shoe Shopping With Your Child
Bringing your child when shoe shopping is the best idea since he or she will be able to take his or her pick. With them along you won't have to worry about picking the wrong size or choosing the wrong design. They can also offer their opinions about the various shoes available giving you an overview of the shoes they prefer more. In case your child is able to tag along with you when you go shopping for his or her shoes, here are some ways you can do that will help you land the perfect pair.
1. Go shop in the afternoon. It has been said that the feet expand during the day so it is only normal that in the afternoon the feet is at it's largest. With the feet well expanded you will be sure that the shoes you buy are a great fit. Buying shoes in the morning is not really a good idea since during this time the feet have not expanded yet. Buying shoes when the feet are at its smallest is not ideal. Although the shoes may fit well during this time, at the end of the day when the feet have expanded the shoes will surely feel tight and uncomfortable.
2. Wear socks. If your child is going to wear his or her shoes with socks it would be best if you allow him to try on the shoes with socks on. Socks tend to make the shoe fit more snugly. It tends to make it fit tighter. If you buy a pair of shoes that is tailor fitted to your child's foot and he has to wear socks while donning those pair then he might end up complaining that the shoes are too tight. With your child trying on the shoes with socks on you will be able to estimate as to how much allowance you need for it to fit perfectly.
3. Options. Give your child a lot of options to choose from. Have the sales person lay the various pairs in front of your child and ask him to try them on. With a number of options he will be able to compare which shoes are more comfortable or which shoes have more support. When he is trying on a pair ask him to walk around the store, run or jog. After that ask your child to slip off the shoes. If it comes off easily, then that particular shoe is too big for him.
4. Do not Rush. Do not rush your child. When he is trying on some shoes, give him ample time. By doing so he will be able to assess and eventually tell the difference. Children don't like being pressured. If you rush them into choosing which pair, he or she might end up choosing the wrong one. Allow him to have enough time to feel each shoe. Trust him or her on that as he or she will be the one wearing the shoes and not you. So it is important that he or she picks out the right pair.
There is no better way than going shoe shopping with your child. Aside from making the task a whole lot easier you will be assured that you are buying the right shoes. Give value to your children's choices; they know their feet better than you do.
