Five Easy Steps To Making Your Shoes Last Longer
Many of us may not be related but there are a few things that can tie us to one another. Books tie bookworms together, while online games are what bind the techie people and so on and so forth. Most of the time we go along with people who are interested in the same things we find interesting.
We have a lot of things in common with the rest of the human populace. One of these common denominators is a pair of shoes. Almost everyone owns a pair or two and for those addicted to shoe shopping they may own a closetful of shoes.
Shoes come in different shapes and of course in different sizes. There is a wide array of shoe types you can choose from. Oftentimes what footwear you wear will serve as a statement of your very own personality. Take for example those skateboarders. They wear one particular kind of shoes which is known as skate shoes. Party girls tend to wear high heeled shoes or stilettos.
No matter how many pairs you own you will always have that one particular pair you love wearing. Being your favourite you tend to wear those particular shoes most of the time or as much as you can. In the end these shoes get all worn out and worst torn.
It is natural for a pair of shoes to get all worn and used but there are some ways which you can do in order to keep your footsies good as new. Here are some helpful tips.
1. Do not wear just one pair. If you have two or more pairs use them alternately. Wearing just one pair will shorten its lifespan. Remember that every time you wear your shoes you are subjecting them to various stresses. Making each pair rest will actually increase the lifespan of each shoe.
2. Avoid forcing your feet when putting on a shoe. By doing so the back part or heel part of the shoe will get all wrinkled and creased and in time it will get torn. If you find it hard to put on a shoe try using the shoe horn. This thing will help you put on your shoe with ease. And when you're done for the day and is about to take off your shoes do not kick them off but instead use your index finger to guide your feet out.
3. If you notice any part/s that needs repair immediately bring your shoes to a shoe repairman. Take note that if you continue wearing your shoe with worn parts you will only increase the damage. Examples of these parts that usually need repairing are the heels. Due to constant friction against the pavement the heel can lose its thickness and once you notice that most of it is missing already, replace it.
4. Keep your shoes dry. Water and moisture is your shoes' number one enemy. There are various waterproofing products available in the market. As to which type, it will depend on the material used. Avoid wearing your dress shoes or any other good shoes when it's raining.
5. Lastly, if you're not using your shoes it would be a great idea if you store them in its original box. Placing them in the box will keep them from getting wet, crushed or from collecting dust.
With the above mentioned steps you will surely lengthen your shoes' lifespan.
